We as human are so smart that we develop different ways to cope with the pain, some of us become unhealthy perfectionists who work extremely hard to avoid criticism. Some of us become people pleaser that we don’t set healthy boundaries and always put others first & ignore our own needs.
These coping strategies worked so well in the past that you honed the skills & lived a reasonably well life with nagging voices “you are not enough” every now and then. You may even be benefitted from those coping strategies to a degree - for example as a perfectionist, you might have achieved a lot career wise and have felt good about yourself.
But one day, maybe you are going through a relationship breakup, maybe you are at the breaking point of exhaustion at work, maybe you feel overwhelmed by negative thoughts; suddenly your good old coping strategy doesn’t work anymore. YOU ARE DONE. You feel miserable, you secretly despise yourself, you feel resentful towards your family and friends, and you feel stuck in your life & have no idea how to move forward.
