PTSD and Trauma

Do you experience nightmares, vivid images and unwanted memories of the traumatic events?

Do you experience sleep difficulties, lack of concentration and irritability? Are you constantly on the lookout for signs of danger or becoming easily startled?

Are you avoiding the reminders of the traumatic events? Are you avoiding places, activities, people, thoughts or feelings associated with the traumatic event because they bring back painful memories?

Do you feel numb emotionally? Do you lose interests in everyday activities, flat and numb, ad feel disconnected from family and friends? Or do you persistently feel angry, ashamed or guilty?

Have you experienced something that involve injury, death, abuse or torture and felt helpless or scared?

Have you developed negative beliefs about yourself, others or the world after the traumatic events?

These could all be signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a mental health condition that may occur after a traumatic event or after multiple traumatic events, such as dysfunctional family dynamic, car accident, workplace bullying, loss of employment, sexual assault or natural disasters. Not everyone who experience traumatic events develop PTSD as we respond to things and life experience uniquely.
